President Komorowski ratifies EU-Ukraine association agreement

President Bronislaw Komorowski has ratified the association agreement between the European Union and Ukraine. The EU signed the political part of the agreement with Ukraine in March 2014 as a gesture of support for the Ukrainian authorities at a time of growing tension with Russia and a domestic political crisis.

The remaining part of the agreement, involving free trade, economic cooperation, the judiciary and internal affairs, was signed in June 2014. Implementation of the trade-related part of the agreement has been postponed until the end of 2015.

President Komorowski on December 17, 2014 signed into law a bill authorising him to ratify the EU-Ukraine association agreement on Poland's behalf.
