Secretaries of security councils from the Visegrad Group of States met in Budapest on Tuesday and Wednesday to discuss the upcoming NATO summit and European and regional security, the Poland's National Security Office (BBN) reported late on Wednesday.

NATO's basic strength is its deterrence capability, therefore NATO forces should be deployed in its eastern regions, head of Poland's National Security Office (BBN) Stanislaw Koziej said on Tuesday as he referred to the situation in Ukraine.

National security heads of the Weimar Triangle comprising France, Germany and Poland met in Paris on Monday to discuss external threats to national security, EU defence policy and the upcoming NATO summit, Poland's National Security Office (BBN) has reported.

On the occasion of the 600th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Poland and Turkey, National Security Bureau and the Secretariat General of the National Security Council of the Republic of Turkey issued a joint bulletin on the national security matters. The bulletin contains articles written by the analysts from both institutions. It is published in three languages - Polish, Turkish and English.

On 3 March 2014, a meeting of the National Security Council (RBN) took place in Warsaw. The aim of this meeting was to inform the public opinion and political parties about the situation and the scenarios under preparation by the Polish state on the situation in Ukraine.

On 1 March 2014, President of the Republic of Poland Bronisław Komorowski spoke with the acting President of Ukraine Oleksander Turchynov. B. Komorowski had assured him of Polish support for and solidarity with Ukraine in the face of growing Russian pressure in Crimea.

On 31 January 2014, President of the Republic of Poland Bronisław Komorowski met with the US Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel. The talks covered the situation in Afghanistan, future of NATO, missile defense, bilateral military cooperation and the situation in Ukraine.

On 1-3 December 2013, Head of BBN Minister Stanisław Koziej held official visit to the Republic of Turkey.

President of the Republic of Poland Bronisław Komorowski appointed gen. pil. Lech Majewski for the position of General Commander of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland. He will fill the position with effect from 1 January 2014.
