Poland's Independence Day, President Andrzej Duda paid tribute to the country's founding fathers, for whom "the vision of a free, independent Poland was more important than anything else".

On Wednesday, Pawel Soloch, head of Poland's National Security Bureau (BBN), said that the defence policies of the European Union and NATO should complement each other.

President Andrzej Duda has not yet decided whether there will be nominations for new generals on November 11, Poland's National Security Bureau (BBN) head announced on Saturday, stressing that "working out rational solutions" was more important than the date.

A NATO-Ukraine platform on counteracting hybrid threats will be inaugurated on Thursday with an expert conference held in Warsaw, the National Security Bureau (BBN) said in a Wednesday statement sent to PAP.

Poland and Finland have developed multiple ties and share many common interests, President Andrzej Duda said in Helsinki on Tuesday, adding, the topics of his talks with the Finland's president included security issues, Ukraine and policy towards Russia.

It is necessary to increase Poland’s' defence budget as more money is needed for the army's modernisation and transformation as well as increasing its headcount, President Andrzej Duda said after he approved a bill that gradually raises defence spending.

"I believe that subsequent governments will also be determined to increase Poland's defence spending", head of Poland's National Security Bureau (BBN) Pawel Soloch told PAP as President Andrzej Duda was about to sign into law a bill on army financing

"President Andrzej Duda has received a request from the Ministry of Defence to nominate 14 officers to the rank of general, these candidacies are being analysed", deputy head of the National Security Bureau (BBN) Dariusz Gwizdala told PAP on Monday.

The State Minister of Georgia for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Victor Dolidze, paid a visit to BBN, where he held a meeting with Minister Paweł Soloch. Minister Dolidze was accompanied by Mariam Rakviashvili, Deputy State Minister of Georgia for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, and by Ilia Darchiashvili, Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Poland.

President Andrzej Duda on Tuesday afternoon visited Poland's north-western military range in Drawsko Pomorskie to take part in the presentation of combat capabilities by units taking part in the Dragon-17 military exercise. Minister Paweł Soloch accompanied the President of the Republic of Poland.
