Davos. Presidents of Poland and the United States meet

During the Economic Forum in Davos, President Karol Nawrocki met with the President of the United States, Donald Trump. Security and economic matters were at the forefront of the discussion.

'Poland's relationship with the United States is strong and stable,' said President Karol Nawrocki, 'and today's meeting served to confirm this.'

The discussions primarily focused on security issues, including the reaffirmation of security guarantees for Poland and the presence of American soldiers in the country. The Polish and American presidents also discussed the economic situation and preparations for the G20 summit in Miami in December.

The meeting also centred on the inauguration of the Peace Council, which is scheduled for tomorrow. On Thursday, the founding document of the new organisation is to be signed in Davos, for which sixty leaders have received invitations from President Donald Trump. Karol Nawrocki said that Poland needs to complete the constitutional procedure in order to conclude such an agreement. ‘This was accepted with great understanding,’ he noted.

‘As guardian of the Polish constitution, I must ensure that every international agreement initiated by the President passes through the Polish parliament and that a resolution of the Council of Ministers is adopted. I am fully aware of these constitutional obligations, and President Donald Trump is equally mindful of them,’ he said.

Earlier, President Karol Nawrocki participated in a special session alongside US President Donald Trump.

This is the third consecutive meeting between Karol Nawrocki and Donald Trump. At the beginning of September last year, President Nawrocki visited the White House. The two presidents discussed security in relation to military, energy and economic cooperation with regard to the Three Seas Initiative. The American leader reaffirmed security guarantees within the context of the alliance, emphasising Poland's role as a trusted and reliable ally. He also invited President Nawrocki to participate in the G20 summit.

During the election campaign last May, Karol Nawrocki visited Washington as a candidate for the office of President of the Republic of Poland, where he met with the US leader.
