Tallinn. Summit of the Arraiolos Group

In Estonia’s capital, the Summit of the Arraiolos Group has taken place, attended by President Karol Nawrocki. Heads of eleven states discussed security situation in the region and the edge–cutting technologies, including the use of AI in civilian and military domain.

Speaking to the media, President Karol Nawrocki said that the meeting was an important occasion at which state leaders could share their views on the economy and security.

A breakthrough in the area of new technologies is palpable worldwide. This is an important aspect,' he observed.
He also added that the technological breakthrough sweeps not only through our everyday lives, but also through the military domain. Among the topics addressed in the talks was the security of NATO's eastern flank, which was of particular importance in light of Russia's recent provocative actions.

The Summit was attended by: President of the Republic of Poland Karol Nawrocki, President of Estonia Alar Karis, President of Italy Sergio Mattarella, President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev, President of Germany Frank–Walter Steinmeier, President of Greece Konstantinos Tasulas, President of Slovenia Nataša Pirc Musar, President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs, President of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen, President of Portugal Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and President of Slovakia Peter Pellegrini. 

At a press briefing, Marcin Przydacz, Head of the International Policy Bureau, said that during the meeting, the subject of AI was discussed, and the leaders of the countries agreed that this tool should remain under human control. “Of course, there is a risk that new technologies may pose a threat in the future. They could be exploited by individuals with malicious intent or authoritarian states,” he added.

On the sidelines of the summit, President Karol Nawrocki held a series of bilateral talks with the presidents of Austria, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Portugal and Germany, among others.
