President paid working visits to Berlin and Paris
President Karol Nawrocki paid working visits to Berlin and Paris. He said that his talks with the presidents of France and Germany, as well as with Chancellor Friedrich Merz, had focused mainly on the security of Poland and the entire eastern flank of NATO.
Karol Nawrocki thanked the leaders of France and Germany for their swift response to the repeated violations of Polish airspace by Russian drones on the 10th of September.
A large part of Karol Nawrocki's meeting with Emmanuel Macron was devoted to the EU–Mercosur agreement. The President of Poland informed that the President of France had many doubts about this agreement.
– Signing this agreement also means supporting Russia and Belarus in supplying their fertilizers to South America. This is an inconsistency on the part of EU countries in this regard – said Karol Nawrocki in Paris.
The visit to Berlin presented an opportunity to initiate discussions on reparations. The President of Poland expressed his belief that starting this discussion would not affect Poland's good relations with Germany in trade, economic, and international matters.
– But this is an important issue for me as the Polish president, important for Poles, and I consider this discussion to be open. Germany could start paying reparations by building the potential of the Polish arms industry and strengthening NATO's eastern flank. This is not a whole recipe, but a beginning –said Karol Nawrocki.
These were Karol Nawrocki's subsequent foreign visits after assuming the office. First, the Polish leader visited Washington, followed by Rome and the Vatican, Vilnius, and Helsinki.
