Karol Nawrocki represented Poland at a teleconference organised by US President

President of the Republic of Poland Karol Nawrocki represented Poland at a teleconference with European leaders organised by US President Donald Trump ahead of the meeting in Alaska.

"As the talks in Alaska approach, President Trump decided to consult with key European leaders, his Polish counterpart President Karol Nawrocki obviously among them" - as the Head of the International Policy Bureau, Minister Marcin Przydacz explained.

According to the Minister, the German Chancellor, the British Prime Minister, the Italian Prime Minister, the French President, the Ukrainian President, the President of the European Commission, the Secretary General of NATO and the President of Finland also took part in the conversation, which lasted over an hour. It was a very small group of European politicians most involved in these issues, he said.

In the light of Russia’s aggressive policies, President of Poland has adopted a position which we have been advocating for several months and years: only through a strong language and concrete, firm action can Russian Federation be contained. It is unacceptable for Russia to dictate the borders of Europe or to determine the foreign policy of individual states.

Minister Przydacz observed that the stringent policy towards the Russian Federation, including sanctions, had led to Vladimir Putin acknowledging the need for dialogue. The Minister emphasized that also "the conviction had to gain ground that the final resolution of this issue must involve the Ukrainian state and its representatives".
