President, head of NATO discuss transatlantic relations
On Friday, President Andrzej Duda and NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, in their first talks this year, discussed transatlantic relations under the new US presidency.
Also discussed were a February-planned meeting of NATO defence ministers, a March-scheduled sitting of the Alliance's foreign ministers, and next year's NATO summit.
Recounting the talks to reporters, National Security Bureau (BBN) head Pawel Soloch said there were no indications of cutbacks in NATO-aligned transatlantic defence cooperation under the new US administration.
Soloch said a meeting of NATO state and government leaders will "by all indications" take place in the middle of this year, probably in June. He added that the meeting will focus on the strengthening of NATO's collective defence potential, and that President Duda was in "very active" consultations in the matter with regional NATO state leaders.
Soloch said Duda's talks with Stoltenberg also concerned the reinforcement of unity between the US and Europe under the Joe Biden presidency.
