The head of BBN paid a visit to Lithuania and Latvia

On 25-27th February Minister Paweł Soloch visited Lithuania and Latvia discussing bilateral and regional defence cooperation and common security issues of NATO Eastern Flank.

During his stay in Vilnius (25-26th February), Minister Paweł Soloch had a consultations with the group of Lithuanian presidential national security advisors led by Mr. Jonas Žukas and met high-level civilian and military officials (Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius, deputy Defence Minister Vytautas Umbrasas, Head of parliamentary Committee of Security and Defence Mr. Dainius Gaižauskas and Chief of the Defence Staff maj. gen. Gintautas Zenkevičius). Moreover Minister Soloch has laid wreaths on monuments of particular significance for Poland and Lithuania on Antokol and Rossa cementaries.
 
Visit in Latvia (26-27th February) started from visiting Ādaži Military Base where Polish Military Contingent is located as a part of NATO Enhanced Forward Presence Battlegroup. Minister Paweł Soloch met with the commander of the battlegroup Lt. Col. Eric Angell, commander of Polish Military Contingent maj. Krzysztof Budzisz and Polish soldiers stationing there. While staying in Riga, Minister Soloch met his Latvian counterpart Mr. Jānis Kažocinš, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Artis Pabriks and deputy Defence Minister Janis Karlbergs.
 
The talks confirmed common perspectives on regional security situation and the need to further deepen security and defence cooperation between Poland and Latvia and Lithuania.
