President promotes five officers to general and admiral ranks

Polish President Andrzej Duda has promoted five Polish Army officers to the first and subsequent general ranks, and to the counter admiral rank, the National Security Bureau (BBN) announced on Saturday.

The president will officially hand over the appointments on Polish Armed Forces Day on August 15, the BBN wrote, adding that President Duda had promoted the five officers having accepted the motion submitted by Defence Minister Mariusz Blaszczak.

Brigadier General Slawomir Kowalski, the commander of the Land Operations Centre, and Brigadier General Krzysztof Radomski, the commander of the 16th Pomeranian Mechanised Division, have been promoted to the rank of major general.

Colonel Artur Jakubczyk, the deputy commander of the 18th Mechanised Division, and Colonel Krzysztof Walczak, the commander of the 3rd Airlift Wing, have been promoted to the rank of brigadier general.

Commodore Piotr Notec, the commander of the 8th Coastal Defence Flotilla, has been promoted to the rank of counter admiral.
