Head of BBN: Eurocorps should continue as key element in NATO command structure

The head of National Security Bureau (BBN), Paweł Soloch, told before leaving for the Eurocorps headquarters in Strasbourg on Monday that "Poland wants the corps to continue as a key element of the NATO command structure."

P. Soloch added that this "should also take place as part of a large-scale operation on the alliance's eastern flank."

The BBN head, starting a two-day visit to the Eurocorps headquarters on Monday, is accompanied by General Krzysztof Król, the deputy chief of General Staff of the Polish Army.

P. Soloch explained that his visit "is connected with Poland's readiness to stop its withdrawal from the Eurocorps," owing to the growth of the corps' significance in NATO's command structure.

"We are ready to again apply for a framework status country. This shows that Poland is interested in the development of European defence cooperation, provided it is coordinated with NATO's politics," P. Soloch stressed.

While in Strasbourg, P. Soloch will meet with the Eurocorps command and Polish soldiers, including the Deputy Chief of Staff of Eurocorps, General Wojciech Kucharski.
