President meets NATO Secretary General

NATO will show unity; it will show that it reacts in an adequate way to the security situation in the world, President Andrzej Duda said after a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in Warsaw on Thursday afternoon.

The president described his meeting with the NATO secretary general as final consultations before the NATO summit starting in Warsaw on Friday.

"I want to stress that the most important thing is that the North Atlantic Alliance is showing unity and will show it in the coming two days; it will show that it is an alive alliance reacting in an adequate way to the changing situation of world security, that there is mutual understanding among alliance members, and that there is solidarity regarding all subjects, and that the 'all for one and one for all' principle has been in force," the president said.

Present at the meeting were Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski, Defence Minister Antoni Macierewicz, Head of the National Security Bureau (BBN) Pawel Soloch and presidential Minister Krzysztof Szczerski.

After the meeting, NATO Deputy General Secretary Alexander Vershbow received a distinction.
