President: Polish politicians agreed on strengthening eastern NATO flank

The entire Polish political scene is agreed on the need to strengthen NATO's eastern flank and on the stationing of allied forces in Poland, President Andrzej Duda said on Tuesday after a sitting of the National Security Council (RBN).

President Duda added that there was also general agreement as to the need to carry through July's NATO summit in Warsaw and World Youth Day (WYD) event in Krakow as efficiently as possible.

"Here we are all speaking with one voice. Similarly when it comes to the strengthening of the eastern NATO flank and raising the presence of allied forces in Poland. The entire political scene is agreed that this is a good direction which Poland needs", the president said.

Duda added that at the RBN sitting he appealed for temperance in political feuding in connection with the NATO summit and the World Youth Day festivities.

The president announced that he, the foreign and defence ministers, and the special services coordinator made the Council members familiar with the current state of negotiations related to the NATO summit. The meeting also focused on ensuring security during the summit and WYD.
