Poland begins work on naval security concept

Poland on Thursday started work on drafting the country's naval security concept under the auspices of the National Security Bureau (BBN). It is time to return to the Baltic and think about Poland's sea interests, deputy head of BBN Jaroslaw Brysiewicz said.

Meanwhile, head of the BBN Pawel Soloch said the work's effect is to be a document presenting a strategic concept. "This idea is an effect of a lack of vision of the functioning and development of Poland's naval forces which leads to chaotic steps in this field and the continuing uncertainty about the future," said Soloch.

The document, to be prepared by a specially set up team and headed by Brysiewicz, will not include detailed solutions but general recommendations. It is to be an attempt to define Poland's sea interests which are to serve as ground for determining tasks, structures and finally equipment of the Polish Navy, explained Soloch.
