President in Munich: NATO needs stronger eastern flank

Strengthening NATO's eastern flank is at the top of Poland's security agenda, President Andrzej Duda said during a presidential debate at the 52nd Munich Security Conference on Saturday.

The strengthening of NATO's eastern flank is the key aspect of Poland's security, Duda said, pointing to the situation in Ukraine and Russian PM Dmitry Medvedev's words blaming the West for starting a new Cold War.

President Duda stressed that the strengthening of NATO was a natural consequence of its expansion, arguing that the next step should be to establish more allied bases and infrastructure in Poland and other countries in the region.
