President: Poland for UN reform

Poland consistently supports those who would like to see a reform of the United Nations, Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski said in Fort Bragg, United States, on Tuesday. Poland offers political support for US actions in Syria, the president added.

Bronislaw Komorowski admitted there was so far no broad coalition that would like to push through such a deep reform.

President Komorowski is on a visit to the United States. On Thursday he is going to address the 69th session of the UN General Assembly.

Talking to Polish reporters, Bronislaw Komorowski stressed that Poland and other countries "continuously strive to reform the UN which suffers from powerlessness in the face of subsequent crises, including military ones."

"It suffers for various reasons, sometimes due to the ease of blocking international action if one of the veto holders in the UN Security Council is the aggressor," Bronislaw Komorowski added.

The president said Poland offers political support for US military actions in Syria, but excluded the participation of Polish troops in the operation.
