President of the Republic of Poland signed decision to send the Polish Military Contingent

On 11 March 2013, President of the Republic of Poland Bronisław Komorowski signed the decision to extend the Polish Military Contingent in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan from 14 April 2013 through 31 October 2013.

The 13th rotation of PMC Afghanistan will use up to 1800 soldiers and civilian workforce in Afghanistan and up to 200 soldiers and civilian workforce in reserve in the Republic of Poland.

This will be the last such large PMC in Afghanistan before the planned reduction of the contingent this fall. Poland will end the military operation in Afghanistan in the end of 2014.

The decision is in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2069.
