Head of BBN met with members of the French National Assembly

Poland and France will continue to develop cooperation - bilateral and within the Weimar Triangle - on European security. On 9 January 2013 members of the lower house of French Parliament, Yves Fromion and Joaquim Puey, visited BBN.

During the meeting the French representatives presented the main conclusions from the report on future of the Common Security and Defence Policy published by the Committee of European Affairs of the National Assembly. The members of French Parliament pointed to the need for more efficient use of instruments enshrined in the Treaty of Lisbon, such as permanent structured cooperation and inter-institutional coordination.

Both sides talked about the need for a more dynamic strategic debate on European security. The Head of BBN informed about actions taken by the Bureau on a new strategic document for the EU.

In 2012 Poland and France strengthened their bilateral cooperation on European security, including Common Security and Defence Policy. This subject was discussed during the visit of the president of the Republic of France, François Hollande, on 16 November 2012.

The National Security Bureau has conducted an active dialogue with its French partners - the Secretariat-General for National Defence and Security and the Institute of Higher National Defence Studies.
