Consultations between BBN and the Security Council of Russia

Monday, 15 October 2012. The Common Coordinating Group of the National Security Bureau (BBN) and the Security Council of the Russian Federation (SCRF) held a meeting in Moscow. BBN’s delegation was headed by the director of the Strategic Analyses Department, gen. Kazimierz Sikorski. The meeting was hosted by the Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of Russia, Yevgeniy Lukyanov.

 

During the meeting, the parties discussed the joint ventures planned for 2013–2014.The next day, in Russia’s Institute for Strategic Studies (RISS), under BBN and SCRF’s patronage, Polish-Russian expert round table was organized. The session was headed by the Deputy Secretary of the SCRF, Y. Lukyanov. The speeches on the Syrian crisis were given by Grzegorz Dziemidowicz from Collegium Civitas and Anna Glazova (RISS). The European segment of the American missile defense system was presented by Beata Górka-Winter from the Polish Institute of International Affairs and Vladimir Kozin (RISS). 

The first meeting in this format was held a year ago in Warsaw and headed by professor Adam Daniel Rotfeld. It was attended by former ministers and deputy ministers of national defense, Janusz Onyszkiewicz and Andrzej Karkoszka as well as Dr. Artyom Malgin from MGIMO and Dr. Sergey Utkin from IMEMO RAN. The meetings are expected to be continued in the future as events that support building mutual trust and better understanding of the positions of the parties on the issues important for the security.
