Head of Turkey’s National Security Council visits Poland

On the 1-3 October Secretary General of the National Security Council of the Republic of Turkey Muammer Türker paid visit to Poland at the invitation of the Head of the National Security Bureau.

Bilateral talks between the representatives of both institutions were conducted in the frameworks of the Protocol on cooperation between the National Security Bureau and the Secretariat General of the NSC, signed on the 24th of November, 2011 in Ankara. The protocol constitutes the foundation of the dialogue between institutions.
Secretaries general of the security councils discussed the security issues regarding, in particular, the Middle East, Black Sea and Southern Caucasus regions. Both sides also referred to the cooperation within NATO and the international fight against terrorism.

Minister Koziej and Secretary General Türker emphasized the importance of the tradition of the Polish-Turkish relations and referred to the upcoming anniversaries: in 2013 – the 90th anniversary of signing the “Treaty of Friendship between Poland and Turkey” and in 2014 – the 600th anniversary of the establishment of Polish-Turkish diplomatic relations.

Minister Koziej and Secretary General Türker reiterated the necessity of the continuation of the bilateral dialogue on the security interests of both countries. They also recognized the benefits of developing new forms of contacts.
