On Tuesday, 24 July, the President met with the Polish ambassadors posted in numerous countries and international organizations around the world. The diplomats came to Warsaw to participate in the annual meeting organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting was also attended by the Head of the National Security Bureau, Stanisław Koziej.

Bronisław Komorowski said that one of the most important tasks set out for the Polish diplomacy is to develop the country’s strong position in the European Union. The president said that the “battle” for the EU 2014-2020 budget is as important for Poland as the current budget. The President underscored that the source of Polish success is the conviction of the external world that there is political agreement in Poland in the area of foreign policy, and Polish policy, in general.

Bronisław Komorowski noted how important in Polish foreign policy is regional cooperation. „It includes also tightened cooperation within the Weimar Triangle, active policy aimed at a good neighborhood, the Visegrad Group presidency, and a wise support for Ukraine’s path to the West. It also involves a pragmatic approach towards relations with Russia”.

Bronisław Komorowski thanked the ambassadors for their work, particularly during the recent Polish presidency in the Council of the European Union. He also thanked the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski, his Ministry and all ambassadors for their fruitful cooperation in foreign relations.
