Meeting with the UE Special Representatives for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia

Tuesday, 29 May 2012. Deputy Head of the National Security Bureau Zdzisław Lachowski, PhD met with Mr. Philippe Lefort, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, who, invited by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently visiting Poland.

During the meeting the parties discussed situation in the South Caucasus. It was emphasized that the region is important both for Poland and the EU. Both parties noticed that the lack of solutions for security problems in the South Caucasus impacts the stability of the whole continent.

Moreover, Ambassador Philippe Lefort stressed the special role that the EUMM in Georgia headed by General Andrzej Tyszkiewicz plays in the region. The mission is an important tool in maintaining stability and building trust.
