Meeting with Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan

Tuesday, 20 March 2012. At the request of Ambassador Marc Grosmman – Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan a meeting in the Presidential Palace took place. The guest was accompanied by the US Ambassador to Poland Lee Feinstein.

The President of Poland Bronisław Komorowski was represented by the Head of the National Security Bureau Stanisław Koziej and Undersecretary Jaromir Sokołowski and Advisor to the President of Poland professor Roman Kuźniar.

The parties discussed the conditions and perspectives for the engagement of allies in Afghanistan in the context of American initiatives aiming at supporting sustainable and sufficient Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) after 2014.

During the meeting Ambassador M. Grossman gave the list from President Barack Obama to President Bronisław Komorowski concerning the above-mentioned issues. He also expressed President Obama’s thanks for Polish commitment in the Afghan operations, the dedication and achievements of Polish troops and experts as well as for representing American interests by Polish diplomats in Damashq.

Ambassador Grossman visited Warsaw during his travel through Europe, where he was consulting NATO allies and Partners in advance of the NATO summit in Chicago in May. Apart from Warsaw, he visited Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, Hague, Berlin, Paris and Brussels.
