Military policemen come back from Afghanistan

Thursday, 1 December 2011. The component of Military Police soldiers, a part of the 9th shift of the Polish Military Contingent in Afghanistan and participating soldiers representing the army, the navy and the special forces as well as Polish Armed Forces Support Inspectorate were welcomed in Warsaw.

During the welcoming ceremony, the soldiers were awarded with the „Stars of Afghanistan” – a medal awarded by the President of Poland upon Minister of National Defense motion. The medals were handed by the Secretary of State in the Ministry of National Defense Czesław Mroczek, Director of the Armed Forces Supervision Department Lech Konopka, Advisor to the Minister of National Defense Major-General Bogusław Pacek, Operational Commander of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant-General Edward Gruszka and the Military Police Chief Major-General Mirosław Rozmus.

The medals for impeccable service in the Polish Military Contingent were handed to all soldiers of the component. 236 medals were awarded. Soldiers who demonstrated determination in their service during the 9th shift of PMC in Afghanistan, the Chief Military Police awarded with the Honorary Badge of the Military Police, Honorary Badges for Soldiers of Merit of the 2nd and 3rd degree as well as congratulation letters. During the ceremony, the special badges were also given to three dogs and their guides that served in Afghanistan; Barry and Bianka (dogs) received medals awarded by NATO’s Secretary General.
