Chief of Defence of the Kingdom of Norway visits the NSB

Wednesday, 28 September 2011. The Deputy Head of the NSB Mr. Zdzisław Lachowski held a meeting with the Chief of Defence of Norway - General Harald Sunde.

Mr. Lachowski familiarised the guest with the organisation and tasks of the National Security Bureau as well as the options for cooperation between both countries in the defence field, particularly in relation to fighting the terrorism. He also emphasised the will that Poland has to strengthen defence functions of the Alliance, which are NATO’s core task.

General Sunde also indicated the basic meaning of the article 5 of the NATO Treaty and the need to develop common defence capabilities. In his opinion, in order to fulfil the task we should start with regional capabilities, which will translate into Alliance’s capabilities. He pointed that Poland is a very important partner for Norway and other Scandinavian countries.
