Defence Attaché of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic awarded Polish decoration

Finishing his diplomatic mission in Poland, Slovak Defence Attaché Brigadier-General Jozef Viktorin was awarded Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland. On behalf of the President of Poland, Head of NSB Minister Stanisław Koziej awarded the decoration.

General J. Viktorin has been holding the position of Defence Attaché in Warsaw since June 2008. It was his second diplomatic mission in Poland; previously he was holding the position in 2002-2005. During his work in Warsaw on numerous occasions he demonstrated personal contribution and effort in development and intensification of Slovak-Polish relations, particularly within the military field. Promoting bilateral cooperation and the idea of partnership between Slovakian and Polish institutions responsible for the security of the armed forces of both countries, Brigadier-General Jozef Viktorin was actively developing this idea, which he believed is a significant factor conditioning the security for the defence system.

Among the participants of the ceremony of awarding the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland were representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Slovakia led by Peter KORMÚTH – Chargé d’affaires a.i., and representatives of the Ministry of National Defence.
