President in New York to attend UN General Assembly session

President Andrzej Duda and his wife Agata Kornhauser-Duda arrived in New York on Sunday night (local time). During a three-day visit, President Duda will attend the 73rd UN General Assembly session and a UN Security Council meeting. The president is accompanied by the head of the BBN, minister Paweł Soloch.

On Monday, the Polish head of state will take part in the opening of a foreign commercial bureau of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, and will meet with businesspeople.

On Monday afternoon, the Polish presidential couple will attend a ceremony marking the centenary of Poland's independence. In the evening, the president and Poland's First lady will take part in a gala hosted by US President Donald Trump.

On Tuesday, President Duda will participate in the inaugural session of the 73rd UN General Assembly and in a high-level meeting devoted to the "Action for Peacekeeping" declaration, chaired by the UN Secretary General.

On Wednesday, the Polish head of state will take part in the UN Security Council meeting chaired by President Trump. Also on Wednesday, President Duda will address a general session of the 73rd UN General Assembly and will meet with reporters.

The Polish president will also attend a meeting devoted to the COP24 summit on climate change. (It will take place in Poland's southern city of Katowice on December 3-14, 2018 - PAP). Also, planned is a meeting of the Polish president with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

The COP (Conference of the Parties) summit is the highest body of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC). Decisions made at COP summits map out global climate policy for the following years.
