President: Poland proud of its history, also thanks to Military Police

Free, sovereign and independent Poland may be proud of its history, also thanks to its Military Police (ŻW), President Andrzej Duda told ŻW officers on Wednesday, thus marking Military Police Day, celebrated every year on June 13.

This year's ceremony was organised at a military police base in Mińsk Mazowiecki (eastern Poland).

"Soldiers from the Military Police sacrificed their lives for their country during the struggle for an independent Poland," President Duda said.

Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak stressed that Poland is safe thanks in part to the Military Police effort.

Minister Błaszczak mentioned that ŻW is praised for its service within NATO and the support it offers to law enforcement services during cultural and military events organised in Poland.

Poland's Military Police Day has been celebrated annually since 1994.
