Security office could facilitate contact with society - head

Poland's National Security Bureau (BBN) could become a platform for day-to-day contacts between professional services and social organisations dealing with protecting citizens, BBN head Pawel Soloch said on Monday.

BBN's immediate superior is Poland's President Andrzej Duda, who on Monday presented distinctions to the people whom he described as "heroes of the time of peace" since they had the courage to help others while risking their own lives.

President Duda and the First Lady also met with children as part of the Safe Holidays with the Presidential Couple initiative aimed to promote safety during summer holidays.

"The president has suggested to continue such meetings to discuss ways to solve problems faced by important services and organisations, using BBN as an institution for day-to-day contacts", Soloch said.

During the meeting with the president, organisations stressed not only financial issues, but also cooperation between services and social organisations concerned with safety. (PAP)
