President-MoD meeting planned in long time - BBN head

President Andrzej Duda's meeting with Defence Minister Antoni Macierewicz has been planned for long, among others, before an annual meeting of the Defence Ministry's authorities in April, National Security Bureau (BBN) head Pawel Soloch said on Thursday.

"As far as this meeting is concerned, it has been planned for a long time; its date has not been agreed upon. But the date is in a completely different context (....), it is connected with the April 12 meeting of the Defence Ministry's authorities to be be attended by the president. Perhaps by the prime minister as well. And before this annual meeting the president wanted to be up-to-date with the current problems in regard to the functioning of the armed forces and its reform", Soloch told Polish Public Radio Three.

On Wednesday, the National Security Bureau told PAP that President Andrzej Duda's meeting with Defence Minister Antoni Macierewicz would be held on March 31 at the BBN seat.

Asked about staff changes in the army, Soloch said that "the president was, is and will be interested" in such changes.

"Each case (...) is being followed by the president. And I can say that on a global scale the president does not think that the continuity of the army command is threatened", Soloch stressed.
