President condoles Turkish and German state leaders over Istanbul attack

President Andrzej Duda Tuesday sent condolences to the presidents of Turkey and Germany in connection with that day's terrorist attack in Istanbul in which at least eight Germans died.

In his message to German state head Joachim Gauck Duda expressed deepest sorrow on behalf of the Polish people and his own and assured of Poland's sympathy for the victims' families. In the message to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan he stressed that "the Polish people will never agree to acts of terror aimed against innocent people".

Ten people died and 15 were injured in a Tuesday suicide terrorist attack in Istanbul's historical quarter. According to German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier at least eight of the fatalities were Germans.
