President: I want Ukraine to attend NATO summit in Warsaw

I would very much like Ukraine to attend next year's NATO summit in Warsaw, I will try to secure a place for Ukraine at the alliance's table, Polish President Andrzej Duda said in Kiev after a meeting with Ukrainian Head of State Petro Poroshenko on Tuesday.

"Poland will host the NATO summit in Warsaw in 2016 and I would very much like Ukraine to be present at this meeting," President Duda said.

The Polish president believes that it is important not only for Polish-Ukrainian relations but also for Ukraine's position in the global sphere and security of our part of the world.

President Poroshenko declared that Ukraine's political and security cooperation with NATO was very important for Ukraine.

"Poland's role in 2016 when the alliance's summit takes place in Warsaw is very significant," he stressed and thanked the Polish head of state for support of Ukrainian initiatives.

Later on Tuesday President Duda is scheduled to meet with Ukrainian PM Arseniy Yatsenyuk and head of the Supreme Council of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman.

In the evening the Polish president will meet at the Polish Embassy with students and young intellectuals as well as Poles living in Ukraine.
