"President guards continuity of state authority"

The Polish president has a duty to serve Poland with the same dedication as the country's functionaries such as police officers, soldiers, firefighters and others, President Andrzej Duda said on Saturday.

"President Bronislaw Komorowski granted you your commissions, today the new president is with you to complete what I consider a presidential duty. I want you to see this as a literal manifestation of the words of the constitution that the president guards the continuity of state authority", President Andrzej Duda said during a graduation ceremony at the Police Academy in Szczytno (northern Poland).

Thanking police officers for their service, the president underlined that the Polish police force enjoyed a high level of public trust.

"Today, as the latest surveys show, the police force enjoys 72-percent public trust ... I would like Polish functionaries ... to be winners of success. In your case, success means the safety of Poles and their sense of security, and this trust also reflects that sense", President Duda said.
