President: NATO's presence in Poland should be more palpable

NATO's presence in Poland should be more palpable, should be a fact, President Andrzej Duda said in a radio interview on Saturday. Stronger guarantees for our part of Europe are the most important goal in the current geopolitical situation, he stressed.

"There is only one goal, a very simple one - the strengthening of Poland's security and stronger guarantees for Central and Eastern Europe in the current situation. I think that today everybody knows that NATO's presence in Central and Eastern Europe should be more palpable and should be a fact," the president said.

"Today's existence of the alliance's eastern flank - and I believe that Poland is such a flank (...) - must mean the authentic presence of NATO's troops on our territory," the president went on, adding that he was speaking about the alliance's infrastructure and military bases, for instance, Polish-US ones or other NATO bases.

Duda added that as president-elect he held meetings with many officials, including the Canadian PM and NATO's secretary general, during which he always presented his vision of the alliance's development and goals. "For me the negotiations have already started. I hope that we will meet with a positive position of our partners," the president said.
