President Duda: Poland must have strong armed forces

We must have a strong army ready to defend Poland at any time, said President Andrzej Duda when assuming the post of the supreme commander of the armed forces. The post is always held by the president of the day.

The president declared his readiness to cooperate with the Ministry of Defence in modernisation of the armed forces.

In his address to soldiers A. Duda said that it was the duty of state authorities to modernise the army and supply it with the best possible weapons. "We are a member of NATO (...) but like every state with ambitions we must have a strong, effective and well-trained (own) army."

He vowed to cooperate with the Ministry of Defence. "I am convinced that Polish army will be equipped with weapons in agreement and fast, although this will require a large financial effort, but Poland is worth this effort and needs it," A. Duda said.
