President at international manoeuvres

These manoeuvres are a sign of cooperation within the North Atlantic Alliance, President Bronislaw Komorowski said Thursday at the Drawsko Pomorskie military training ground in north Poland, where he inspected exercises of Polish, Canadian and US troops.

Bronislaw Komorowski said that military exercises showed how NATO solidarity worked in practice and reflected the Alliance's "true needs".

"(Exercises show - PAP) how military cooperation functions here, on Polish territory. Today we are conducting manoeuvres, but in fact they reflect the Alliance's true needs and the needs of its eastern flank, of which Poland is part", the president said.

Bronislaw Komorowski noted that the current manoeuvres also showed that NATO forces were present in Poland in keeping with the decisions of the 2014 NATO summit in Wales. He added that similar exercises will be continued as "our reply to the need to build up security on the Alliance's eastern flank".

Close to 10 thousand soldiers from 18 countries will train in Poland this year, Polish units will take part in over 200 national and international exercises. Most numerous among the foreign units training in Poland will be soldiers from the US, Canada, Britain, Germany and France.
