President of Poland met with NATO Secretary General

On 6 June 2013, President of the Republic of Poland Bronisław Komorowski met with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen. Head of BBN Stanisław Koziej also participated in the meeting.

After the meeting President Bronisław Komorowski said, that the key part of NATO’s function should be the ability to defend the territories of its member states. President emphasized that for Poland it’s important to run an analysis of the military operation in Afghanistan and draw the conclusions – concerning both the future of Afghanistan and “post-Afghanistan NATO”.

President reminded that Polish authorities pay great attention to the upcoming manoeuvres of NATO’s Response Force – Steadfast Jazz 2013 – which will be held in Poland and the Baltic States. Bronisław Komorowski expressed hope, that the exercise will confirm the existence of real ability and readiness to defend the territories of NATO member states in accordance with contingency plans. President invited the Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen to visit Poland during the Steadfast Jazz 2013.

Secretary General acknowledged Poland’s commitment to NATO’s functioning and that Polish forces actively participate in operations in Afghanistan and Kosovo.
