President of the Republic of Poland signed decision to send the Polish Military Contingent to Mali

On 7 February 2013 President of the Republic of Poland Bronisław Komorowski signed the decision to use the Polish Military Contingent within the EU Training Mission in the Republic of Mali from 16 February through 31 December 2013. Poland will send a contingent of up to 20 soldiers, who will help train logisticians, engineers and special forces soldiers of the Malian Armed Forces.

The decision is based on the request by the authorities of the Republic of Mali, the UN Security Council resolutions no. 2071 of 12 October 2012 and no. 2085 of 20 December 2012. The EU Council took decision on establishing the EU Training Mission in the Republic of Mali on 17 January 2013 with the aim of supporting the training of the Malian Armed Forces.
