USAF Commander decorated with the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland

President of Poland Bronisław Komorowski awarded the United States Chief of Staff of the Air Forces – general Norton A. Schwartz. The order was awarded by the Head of the National Security Bureau Stanisław Koziej.

On behalf of the President of Poland, Head of the NSB thanked General N.A. Schwartz for his tremendous work and contribution to the development of the very fruitful contacts between the air forces of Poland and the United States. He also noticed that experiences gained so far by the Polish troops have already paid off during the exercises and operations.

Mr. S. Koziej expressed his hope that the agreement signed today by the Polish and American Air Force commanders – Polish Air Force Lieutenant-General Lech Majewski and US Air Force General Norton A. Schwartz on the exchange of military personnel (MPEP) will additionally contribute to the development of bilateral relations between the air forces of both countries.

Thanking for the honor of receiving the highest Polish order, General N. Schwartz said that only a few American commanders had the opportunity to be invited to the Presidential Palace and for him it is the greatest recognition and experience.

At the end of the celebration Minister S. Koziej wished the general and his wife further successes.

During the celebration, Minister Koziej decorated also chargé d’affaires of the US Embassy William Heidt, Chief of Polish Staff General Mieczysław Cieniuch, Polish Air Force Commander Lieutenant-General Lech Majewski and the wifes of the commanders of the Polish and US Air Forces.

Before the celebration, Minister S. Koziej met with General N.A. Schwartz and familiarized him with the areas of interest of the NSB as well as the National Security Strategic Review. The parties also discussed current issues related to cooperation between the air forces of both countries as well as perspective for further development of the collaboration.
