Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations, International Security Force and U.S. Forces visits the NSB
Thursday, 5 January 2012. Minister Koziej met with Deputy Chief of Staff, International Security Force and U.S. Forces in Afghanistan, major-general John W. Nicholson and Ambassador Lee Feinstein.
General Nicholson shared his experiences concerning ISAF operation and characterized current situation in Afghanistan, the process of handing the responsibility over to Afghan authorities and noted how important is Ghazni Province, where Polish Military Contingent is carrying out the tasks.
General thanked for the efforts and contribution of Polish troops in stabilizing situation in Afghanistan; he also discussed possible variants of the US and ally involvement following completion of ISAF operation.
Head of the NSB familiarized the guest with the organization and tasks of the Bureau, emphasizing the issues concerning the supreme command over the Armed Forces performed by the President of Poland and the directions of Polish involvement in Afghanistan in 2011-2014 approved by the Polish government.
Minister underlined that Polish strategy is coherent with decisions taken during the Lisbon summit and we are determined to implement it, especially in relation to ending military presence in Afghanistan in 2014.
