Head of the NSB participates in the international meeting in Yekaterinburg

Wednesday, 21 September 2011. 2nd International Meeting of High Representatives Responsible for the Security has started in Yekaterinburg and is attended by Minister Koziej. The host of the conference is the Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolay Patrushev.

During the first day’s session concerning activating cooperation in fighting extremism and crises triggered by national hatred, religious intolerance and racism, Minister Koziej made a speech about the character of the evolution of international security in 21st century, which forces complex approach to neutralising challenges and threats basing on network-centric rather than hierarchic construction of cooperation. Head of the NSB emphasised that effective international cooperation in the face of extremisms and crises triggered by national hatred, religious intolerance and racism is conditioned upon creating proper level of trust, openness and mutuality in the security field and abandoning the approach based on fear balance. He added that historical experiences and achievements of reconciliation process with the neighbours entitle Poland in a particular way to call for those rules. During his speech, the Minister also mentioned that Poland supports practical elimination of divisions in the international community – through stabilization and reconstruction of Afghanistan, building alliance missile defence system open to cooperation with partners that are not members of the NATO, by specific actions against terrorism and proliferation. He underlined that we hope for the agreement in revitalisation of CFE regimen and initiating a discussion about tactical nuclear weapons in Europe.
