At the press conference following the meeting, the President expressed his satisfaction with the opportunity to exchange opinions with the head of NATO with regard to the current issues related to the North Atlantic Alliance.

"I firmly believe that we shall, by our joined efforts, affirm the decisions taken at the NATO summit in Lisbon," the President said.

He added that Poland considers the NATO summit in Lisbon as "a very significant achievement, also when regarded as a personal accomplishment of the Secretary General." He also remarked that our country believed that the decisions taken at the summit were "a fine compromise solution which opens up very good vistas."

According to the Polish President, the agreements made in Lisbon serve to develop "internal equilibrium within the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation between tasks connected with the performance of the obligations under Article 5 of the Washington Treaty and external missions resulting from entirely new challenges faced by the Organisation."
